About Nordstu Farm – agriculture, animal welfare and tradition

Nordstu Farm is located in the heart of Stor-Elvdal, surrounded by forests and meadows. Here we run active farming with Angus cattle and cultivated land, combining traditional farm life with modern practices. Our goal is to create a farm where animals, people and nature thrive together.

History

Nordstu Farm has roots stretching back through several generations. Today the farm is a vibrant homestead where agriculture remains at the core, alongside the experiences offered through Nordstu AS.

Animals and animal welfare

The farm is home to around 100 Angus cattle. We place great emphasis on animal welfare – ensuring that the animals have space, calm surroundings and the opportunity to live naturally. For us, this means grazing for much of the year and being nourished with high-quality feed.

Farming and land use

Nordstu Farm manages about 50 hectares of agricultural land. Most of it is used for grazing our Angus herd, while the rest is dedicated to producing fodder for the winter months. Our operations follow the natural rhythms of the land, with a strong focus on sustainability.

The seasons on the farm

Life on the farm follows the cycle of the seasons. Spring brings calving and new life, summer is for grazing and haymaking, autumn is for harvesting and preparing, while winter is calmer with feeding and care. This rhythm shapes life for both animals and people.

Philosophy and values

Nordstu Farm is run with respect for tradition and a focus on the future. We believe in farming that combines quality, wellbeing and sustainability – for people, animals and the land.
